🌿🌿Berggruen and Kapoor Foundations,🌿🌿
This spring that brings, by definition, new energies, Venice enlarges its artistic geography, welcoming Artist Anish Kapoor and philanthropist Nicolas Berggruen reactivate Palazzo Manfrin and Palazzo Diedo respectively, transforming them into places of creative research.
Manfrin Project represents and seals an extraordinary and uninterrupted relationship with the peculiar dimension of Venice, preserves tradition and the past and its contemporary and global role as a hub of the artistic languages of our time through the exhibitions of the Biennale Arte and the museums and foundations of the city.
The project aims to advance a new contribution to the Venetian and international cultural life in collaboration and dialogue with the institutions and academic realities of the city.
In the nineteenth century, Palazzo Manfrin housed one of the most outstanding art collections in Venice.
Manfrin Project is a gift, a tribute by Kapoor to a city that has marked some of the most important and celebrated stages of his forty-year artistic career.
The desire to strengthen the link with the lagoon tradition is also the basis of the choice made by Nicolas Berggruen, who identified Palazzo Diedo – for a long time associated with one of the historic Venetian families – as the ideal context in which to develop a new creative center in the heart of the city.
Inside the building, Berggruen Arts & Culture, the organization created by the Parisian-born philanthropist, will host exhibitions, symposia, installations and an artist residency program inaugurated by Sterling Ruby in conjunction with the 59. Art Biennale.

BIO
Anish Kapoor (Mumbai, 1954) is considered one of the most influential artists of the current scene. His works are exhibited in the most important permanent collections and museums around the world, from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Tate in London, from the Prada Foundation in Milan to the Guggenheim Museums in Venice, Bilbao and Abu Dhabi. He represented Great Britain at the 44th Venice Biennale in 1990, receiving the Premio Duemila. In 1991 he won the Turner Prize and won numerous international awards including the Praemium Imperiale in 2011 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
